The Space Technology Exploitation Programme (STEP) is an exciting new project delivered by ADS in partnership with industry on behalf of the UK Space Agency.
The aim is to enhance UK space capability by developing new technologies and is part of the UKSP strategic plan. ADS will be engaging with the full space supply chain to develop innovative solutions to overcome technology challenges and unlock new potential market opportunities.
An initial pilot is being undertaken in Northern Ireland and SMEs are being invited to express their interest with outline proposals due by 28 March 2023. Full proposals are due by 9 May 2023 with awards announced on 7 June.
Once the pilot is completed the goal is to roll out a national programme.
Leslie Orr, Director – ADS Northern Ireland comments:
The award to launch the pilot Space Technology Exploitation Programme (STEP) Pilot Programme in Northern Ireland is an important opportunity for Northern Ireland to showcase its innovation and expertise in emerging space related technologies.
Northern Ireland is a region renowned for it supply chain excellence, and I hope to see SMEs operating in the Space sector take part in the programme, engaging with large companies and accelerating space technology innovation.
